That was a mistake and it was probably the auto-assign feature that put it there. The SETUP button on the JP1 remote is just used to program the JP1 remote and can't be used for anything else (without an extender), so the correct approach is to program it to a different button if you need it ...

Yup, feel free to move the buttons around as you see fit, and remove any that you really don't need. If I remember correctly, the only button that wasn't on the list that I used was the PARTY button.
Everything is working great, I think you pretty much nailed it as far as the buttons.

One ...

The remote programming works! I'll have to play with some functions to get things where I might prefer them, but this is 90% of the way there.

Thanks again!

Wow, that's way too nice! I loaded that up to my remote. I'll be setting up my new receiver Thursday or Friday and will report back. I can now easily change any assignments in ways that I might prefer once I start using the receiver.

I can hardly believe this community is still going. This is great ...

The learning remote does sound helpful especially when you really want to mimic everything on the OEM remote.

I'm not clear what I'm supposed to do with that spreadsheet you linked to though. I certainly don't want to build an .rmdu file from scratch.

I'm still not clear why I wouldn't want to use ...

Oh boy, this is going to be fun. Appreciate the help!

Ok, well I have RMIR now. I see that it'll still load my old .ir files and has the functionality of IR, so that's easy enough.

I guess I'm confused now about whether I'm looking for an applicable .rmdu file out of the list you linked to or what ...

Yamaha receivers all use a subset of codes pulled from the same master set, so I bet if you tried an existing upgrade for any Yamaha receiver it would get you pretty close. As you don't have a learning remote to confirm exactly what codes each button uses, you could download one of the various ...

Make corrections on the Layout or Buttons tabs.

I think I've got it. When I change the remote, it even tells me which buttons are no longer mapped. I was able to remap them to buttons on my remote and even changed a few from what was the default in the file to something I prefer.

I'm good here ...

I completed my testing and compiled my results into an RM upgrade file for the TCL P605. I've posted it here in case there is any interest: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=14764

This file includes discretes for on, off, and input selection as well as discretes for ...

Its a flaw in the Atlas. Use a keymove on the select button to get it to remain in TV mode.

How do I do that?

I checked my other remote and that doesn't occur. I'll try looking at those files in the meantime.
EDIT: don't see anything obvious in the other remote's file.

I do want to use the ...

Select Mapped to Wrong Device

I got a new device, so I'm back again. Always interesting re-learning this JP1 stuff every couple of years.

Anyhow, I have an Atlas 5 Day URC-1055 remote. I have a Fios Cable box and Panasonic Viera TC-L42E5 TV.

I found a pretty close Panasonic remotemaster device upgrade and loaded that and ...
