great, thanks so much for confirmation! since I would not get the speedup I would've been doing this for everyone else can ignore my post

this is about an inteset 422-3.

in rmir under "Special Functions" I have a function of "Type DSM":

A;Power;B;Power;A

it takes around 1 second for that to fully execute and it's kind of annoying that I have to hold the remote pointed at the devices until it's done.

could that be GREATLY sped up ...

it could be your mint user account doesn't have permission to use /dev/ttyUSB0. because of that your user instance of rmir is being blocked from connecting to the remote.

if you use the 'ls -la' command for /dev/ttyUSB0 it may show something like this:

crw- rw ---- 1 root uucp 188, 0 Mar 4 10:14 ...

on the general tab you can edit the type and setup code by clicking them directly
sonofagun!! after seeing your screenshot I inadvertently clicked the mouse pointer in quick succession on a "General" item trying to see if there was an out view down arrow and all of a sudden a dropdown menu ...

Have you tried assigning VCR/4665 to the D button in RMIR and load that to your remote?
I'd be happy to reset the remote and try, but you'd need to tell me how to do it.
