I don't think I want to get into .wav files I got everything to work like I want it ---finally!
I am using VPT on both setups. I knew how to do that all along.
What I was saying was when you load a second upgrade to the remote via the JP1 cable it wipes out the first.
I finally realized that all the ...

Hold everything. I had a brain storm.
I think I got it, finally.
I loaded IR and set the tv code to 1177 and the sat code to 1377 on the general tab.
I loaded the sat codes in RM and copied the device and protocol from the output tab into the respective tabs in IR.
Then I loaded the tv codes in RM ...

I see what your saying. That's what I'm doing with my Akai tv and Sat receiver. But the codes for the tv (0060) came with the remote so I only had to load the sat codes (1377) with IR.
But on the Symphonic neither the Sat nor the TV codes are in the remote when I got it. So I have to use IR to load ...

You are correct, that's what I would like.
To use VPT one of the (I'm not sure how to say this) code sets has to be native to the remote don't they? (Native means the remote came from the factory with the codes preprogrammed into it). My understanding is that I can't load two upgrades at the same ...

My definition of combine is to put the device codes together.
What I want is to have all the functions of the Sat remote minus the vol and mute keys to work with the sat device key And the functions for the tv vol and mute keys also to work with the sta key. Since neither set of codes are built ...

Yeah, I have a copy of that. I was just confused.
Anyway that worked and the remote is able to control the tv.
NOW, I have to combine the .rmdu file I created for the Satellite D10 receiver and the .rmdu we created for the Symphonic TV.

Ok, I downloaded the file "symphonic tv wf_719.rmdu" from the diagnostic section. I loaded it into RM 1.08. I selected the output tab in RM.
The data looked like what you referred to that Greg posted. I clicked the copy button on the device upgrade code box. I brought up IR (I had it minimumized). I ...

well, I was going to say that you guys spoiled all my fun creating the .rmdu file for me. BUT even with RM 1.08 the output can't be copied to IR. (just as it is in the symphonic tv wf-719.rmdu file Greg put in the diag area. Sorry folks. I guess I'll have to wait on the bug fix to finish my tv.
Good ...

I'll tell you, I'm glad it wasn't just me. It was blowing my confidence all to heck. I tried it with the device code and sub device codes and it didn't help. I went back to RM 1.10 and same thing. I even restarted my computer to no avail. Whew! I'll try your upgrade. Thank You.
This is something I ...

I pasted what was in the top box (device upgradecode), there was nothing in the upgrade protocol code box. What you said is the way it worked with everything else I have copied from RM.
I put a file null.rmdu in the diagnostic area. IR gives the invalid input problem with that info.
With the NEC1 ...

I believe there is a more serious problem than that. I can open RM so no data is there, if I select NEC1 from the protocol dropdown menu it won't let me select the output tab. All the other tabs work ok. I can select NEC2 or any other NEC protocol it works ok. Every now and then It will work right ...

Now I'm back to the problem I had. When I copy and paste from RM to IR and enter the PID (005a) it says "invalid character in input". I tried it several times. What am I doing wrong now?

OK, I appologize for the remarks. It just seemed you were coming down pretty hard.
Well, I really wasn't having problems with Device Combiner, I just couldn't find out how to select it. I have that mastered now. On to greener pastures.
I have all the codes ready and NOW I need to use the Device ...

Well, you got me! Obviously I didn't get it from IR as I thought. I have a printout of the Advanced codes for TV_0171 and the EFCs are the same as those reported by IR from the learned signals.
Also the code sheet for the 8810 says use code 0171. That's probably what I was thinking about. I was ...
