Rob sold ma an 8811 with the cable and he shipped it to Canada.
Check out his list of currently available remotes.
I am just getting started with this too but I have my remote doing what I want (mostly) - I can hit 1 button to watch a DVD and hit another to watch TV. There are a few more tweaks that ...

Let me know.

Saving to a .txt file in IR

I am going to try my hand at the 8811 extender but the instructions say to say a working good copy or the IR file to a text file.
I am using IR6.00IRC and when I choose 'save as' I don't have an option as to what file type to save it as - only *.IR.
What am I missing?
The reason for me trying the ...

You need to read the help files.
Just posting a general 'where do i start' message will not get you the answer you are looking for.
Yes, I agree that this is quite intimidating at first and can get a little frustrating. Read the documents, try some things, if you run into problems then post your ...

Perfect!
That is exactly what I was asking for!

Now, is it possible to do the same thing for a 'Learned' signal?

WAIT - I tried it by creating a learned signal and then used IR to view the data and create a keymove for the DVD on the REC key with the data that was in the learned signal to eject ...

moving a macro to a different key without an extender

I have an 8811 and am just starting to play with the JP1 system.
I have programmed the M1 key on the remote to chance the TV to channel 10 (our local TV Guide channel).
Is it possible to move that from the M1 key to the 'Guide' key on the remote?
Can it be done without an extender? How? Where do I ...

I did read the manual but nowhere does it say that you need to press the button to be learned on the OEM remote while the 8811 is in the 'rapid blink' phase of the learning. Those 2 steps are actually separated by another step (actually placing the remotes head to head) so I don't see how anyone ...

8811 won't learn

I am trying to get my 8811 to learn keys from my OEM remotes. I am following the directions in the remote manual and all seems to be going fine up to the point of actually 'learning the button'. I get the radid blinks when I select which button I want to save it to (L1) but when I place the remotes ...

Thanks to both of you!

The receiver now works!

I couldn't tell if you were being a smart @$$ or not Rob - I wasn't using th 'SET' button but now I know that too!

This won't be my last question - I am sure!

It is truely awesome that a question can be posted and a complete solution developed ...

HELP - 1st POST

Just got my remote (8811) and JP1 cable from Rob today (thanks Rob) and have tried to get it working.
I am usually fairly proficient with technical things but I have not began to grasp the JP1 thing yet.
I hooked up my remote and it worked fine. I downloaded it into IR and that worked as well.
I ...
