Open your 1679 upgrade, and look at the Protocol Notes. They say: For double-style signals, the prefix device number must be entered in Device 0. Prefix OBCs may be selected from devOBC1 through devOBC4
The main device number may be selected from devOBC1, devOBC2, devOBC3, devOBC4, or DevP2 So ...

I've got my issues all largely sorted out now, thanks. I do have a couple minor remaining questions on the Pioneer TV upgrade; I've started a new thread for that.

Pioneer PRO-920/1120HD Plasma TV - Prefix Command 213?

This is a very low priority question, mostly just curious.

1. Device: PRO-920/1120HD
2. Type of device: Plasma TV
3. Year: ~2005
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: OARUSB04G with Extender v1.04
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? OAR cable
6. Still have original remote? yes - haven't tried it in years, maybe it ...

OK yes thanks that did the trick on the Onkyo power toggle. When I'd first put the OBC in the rest of the fields auto-populated, I didn't notice the 210.108 discrepancy or that there was a pull-down for that field. Power toggle is working A-OK now.

You guys amaze me - not just for what you know ...

I think the problem was that I'd loaded RM into Program Files - I think somewhere I'd come across some recommendation to put it there, but it seems that's now a bad idea as that's a semi-protected folder. Reinstalling it in a Desktop\JP1 folder seemed to do the trick.

So, I learned some TV functions from my old 2116 into the OAR, and then I went to look at them in RMIR, and the Learned Signals tab is grayed out.

I see that this means RMIR can't find DecodeIR, so I download Decode IR.... and then realize that RMIR already came packaged with DecodeIR.

Any idea ...

Not sure why you think the SR-702 doesn't have a power toggle, but it is NEC1 210.108 OBC 203.

I guess it was a bad assumption based on this very same thread 11 years ago.

Anyway, I tried adding the power toggle command you indicate here and put it on the power button, it all looked good, but ...

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but pbearn2001 up there is me (no idea what my email or password was 11 years ago), and I'm trying to set up my new OARUSB04G remote with that exact same Onkyo TX-SR702 receiver and same or nearly same Onkyo TX-SR702 upgrade .

Here's what's puzzling me: the receiver ...

Let me screw around with the TV some more. So far I've still not been able to get any upgrade to work, only the Simpleset Pioneer device... Even the upgrades that appear to load OK into RMIR seem to have no effect on the TV. So, let me play with those a bit more and get back to you on that.

Edit ...

I have no idea how you guys work your magic.

Thanks.

All the pieces are nearly in place now, although I still need to monkey around with the TV upgrades some more to see if there's something that will work there or if I should just learn the very few missing commands from the old 15-2116.

Thanks! Based on a few quick tests it looks like the 4Dev Combo worked for the Onkyo! I've edited my post above accordingly.

How would one even know to try the 4Dev for any specific device? Just from experience? I'd tried most of the 2Dev combos with no luck... I must have skipped the 4Dev somehow ...

I just bought a new OARUSB04G (to replace my old RS 15-2116, to control mostly 10-15 year-old equipment) and am receiving the same error in RMIR, "The selected protocol... is not compatible with the selected remote. This upgrade will not function correctly. Please choose a different protocol ...

Well, I finally worked up the courage to download Extender2 for my 2116.

It worked like a charm! Not only did it provide virtual Toad functionality for my discrete-only Onkyo, but I was blown away by the BLAZING FAST macros -- what a super and unexpected bonus. My old CLICK. . . . CLICK ...

You can use ToadTog to simulate a power toggle button.
Looks like I might have the same issue with my new Onkyo TX-SR702. It has discrete ON & OFF, but no toggle.

Also, it looks like ToadTog might be the answer. But that thing is even scarier than IR & KM were.

Rob -- or anyone -- please help ...
