Oh, that's much more straightforward than I realised. I didn't realise this was just talking about v8.

Future of Java and Remote Master

With regards to Remote Master, which requires Java SE to run, I notice that when installing Java SE 8 update 191 on Windows, it points me at page https://www.java.com/en/download/release_notice.jsp noting that Java SE may only be being updated for consumers until end of 2020. Businesses can licence ...

but my post had the right file in it.
Whoops, sorry, my mistake, turns out I can't read URLs!

So I've downloaded both of your files and compared them in a text editor and they do look almost identical. I've loaded Rob's one into my Nevo and can confirm that it works to control the Maxell, many ...

Thanks all. But I'm stumped already. Dave and Rob, you've both pointed me at http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=25211, but that's just the file I uploaded isn't it? I don't see a Functions tab when editing the device... But I'm probably missing something.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, and I don't know why I didn't notice earlier, but I see a device upgrade downloadable for the Joytech from http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3291 . I've loaded that into RMIR and put it on my Nevo and it works fine. I see that it includes ...

Using Nevo C2 to find discrete and hidden commands?

Hello. I have a Nevo C2, and a couple of devices which I'm interested in looking to see if I can find discrete power commands, or other hidden commands. The devices are:

- Joytech AV Control Center 2, JS965B
- Maxell MXSP-SB3000 soundbase

Neither of these seem to have published codes online, but I ...

Just had an email:
Anouncement: http://www.ez-rc.com end-of-life

As a valued user of one or more Xsight products, we would like to inform you that One For All, OFA, announces the end-of-life for the ez-rc website: http://www.ez-rc.com . For the past several months we’ve had a banner on this site ...

Thanks mdavej. I can get the Xsight Lite on eBay UK easily and cheap enough, although I can't see any Pluses there.

I actually prefer the look of the Lite over the glossy Plus, but I'd prefer 12 devices over 6. If I find I really like the form-factor, I might consider buying both and swapping the ...

Xsight Lite/Plus compared to Color/Touch

Anyone who has both an Xsight Lite or Plus (either of those) and an Xsight Color or Touch (either of those), can they given their opinion on how they compare? I'm lumping Xsight Lite and Plus together as they are similar enough for my comparison, similarly Xsight Color and Touch are similar enough ...

Thanks for the explanation, Graham, and that is reassuring that there will be a way to cope if ez-rc goes down.

Shame that the protected firmware (i.e. the program code) cannot be upgraded, not even by ez-rc. Unless there's an internal JTAG port or similar, I guess we're stuck with the current ...

The site might be here now, but I might want to buy a new remote (with out of date firmware) in the future. Plus I hear about remotes that get into a state where they need the firmware reflashed using ez-rc. If that site isn't around in future years, this might be a problem.

Regarding hacking the ...

Sorry, it's beyond me. I know enough from reading about games console hacking or Android bootloaders etc. to know that there will be lots of security to prevent easy changes to the firmware.

Thanks. I'm guessing that the answer to my next question is no, but has anyone tried properly modifying the firmware, e.g. to add or change features? I understand that it's not open source, but people have managed to hack closed source things before, given the will.

Xsight/Nevo firmware and config reliant on ez-rc.com?

Hello. I am looking to buy the Nevo C2/Xsight Colour remote, and I love that it is supported in an open-source software like RMIR.

However I am concerned to read on http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.php?title=Getting_started_with_Xsight_and_Nevo that in order update the remote's firmware, and ...
