I feel your pain. I went through the same PHP hell with our bike club website and forum (2018). Someone posted a hack that let me keep it going as read-only for 6 months until the club did a shift to a complete new setup. I had to learn some HTML programing because we lost the GUI editor. I had ...

Just jumping in here because I had a WDTV live until it died, but there are a number of upgrade files for the device in the file section. I don't remember any problems using one of them. I can't check any of them anymore.

Options?

Steve here. Old TV tech, and I have an LG projector. I can't think of any hardware mods that would work. You're fighting the fact it's probably a "smart" TV and has to "boot" like a computer and it won't take commands while booting. The projector has commands like "energy saving" which adjust the ...

I have an LG projector and it came with a standard ir remote (that works with Harmony and JP-1 with the codes) and a "magic" type remote. The Magic remote has ir for the power button but the other functions are bluetooth.

I would not suggest running through EFC's on an LG since one of them reset ...

What device are you controlling that you want to capture? The Hub uses different protocols for control. IR, WiFi, and Bluetooth, depending on the device. For example, my Fire TV Cube uses Bluetooth so there is no IR signal. My LG TV can use Bluetooth for most functions except Power On for some ...

First step, physically disconnect all of the speaker wires from the unit. Label them first if you want to. Still overload - internal failure, probably output stage shorted. Given advancements in tech, I'd replace the amp.

No overload, either a wire has a short (even the smallest tag end of wire can ...

Is it only the up/down that don't work? If all your channels got erased from memory, then there is nothing that up/down can change to = rescan

Reset is normally a menu function on this brand. Some models report a tiny hole between two rear connectors hiding a button.

We had to disable automatic registration of new users and manually add them upon request. Our forum was "mature" and had very few new legitimate additions.

The former admin would go through requests (weekly) and only add people he knew to be legitimate. I'm pretty sure you can also block by ip ...

Almost any component in the stage could be the problem. Short of measuring and testing everything, the emitter resistors are a common failure when the outputs fail. (r56/r58, 0.3 ohms, 5 watt)

You should also find and check the main power supply diodes for shorts.

For what it's worth, the drive might be removable and be used in a PC as a generic burner drive. You couldn't go the other direction because the main circuit board is firmware locked to the drive unit for copy protection reasons. You would need to use the software open/close feature because there is ...

As long as it's unplugged, there is minimal danger, especially after being unplugged, more so since the display lights up. (something is drawing current which will dissipate voltage)

Many Sony DVDs have a disk release method, usually a left/right slider through a slot in the bottom. The recorders ...

Which projector is it? If it's the 1500 then it probably uses the same codes as the USA version and some other LG PJs. 00168 is probably the EFC for the "Quick Menu" (as it's called on the US versions) but the format is NEC1, device 4, subdevice 15, which may not be built in and you might require a ...

There shouldn't be any covers to remove. It may be on the moving optic assembly or on a side board.
