Thanks for the help Rob. The main thing I need to control is a Hughes HDVR2 DTivo. I looked in the files section and I of course see a few different files for them there, none that were done for a 1995. So do I just start with any of them and update the buttons, or will that not work? From what you ...

Easy way to convert RS 1994 ir file to a RS 1995?

I have a RS 15-1994 remote with an IR file just the way I want it. I also have a 1995 remote that I want to work the same way. What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks.

Woo hooo, I'm almost there! I wound up learning some of the Pioneer receiver functions that I needed. It has mostly what I need now. I also created macros for "Watch DVD", "Watch Tivo", "Watch HD" and "Power All Off". They all pretty much work. There is still a glitch with the receiver. I think that ...

After some more searching over at AVS Forums, it seems that people are saying that the X1 will not do the discrete functions (no definitive answers by the way). So now I just have figure out what functions I need for my receiver.

Thanks Jon, I will do that if I try it again and it still doesn't work. Just wanted to do as much as I know how to do before asking for help with it. I posted the question over at AVS forums and one person responded that he did not think the X1 firmware supports the discrete AR codes.

Does the Infocus X1 support discrete aspect ratio functions?

There are a number of files for Infocus projectors in the files section. I started with the Infocus X1 and 4800 file. I noticed that there is also a Infocus-Generic file that has discrete aspect ratio functions. I tried to add these functions using KM, I assigned them to the 4 and 6 keys. Then moved ...

Jon,

That simple explanation for the KM help with the X1 discrete aspect ratio functions in KM worked. Thanks. I moved the file to IR and then up to the remote and tried it but it didn't work. I didn't get a chance to look into it yet though. I'm sure it might be a simple thing that I missed that I ...

Jon,

The receiver commands that aren't working correctly are from the last file that you sent me. I learned some receiver commands to the remote and posted the file as Mark1994HTL. At first, I learned the DVD input to the 0 button. That worked fine. Then I learned DVD to 1, TV to 2, VCR to 3, TUN ...

Wayside,

I'm new to this too, and I do find it a little difficult. I think one of the biggest things is whether you have the time to put in to learn the concepts. Like amazing said, he has put in many hours and still has some way to go. If this stuff is interesting to you, it will be a fun little ...

Another update, thanks everyone for your help. Everything is working correctly now except the A/V Receiver. Some keys are working. The volume, power, mute and a few others are working. Most importantly, the component selection is very strange. It seems to work intermittantly, but even so, when I use ...

Use the preset code for the pioneer, AMP0013. It accepts EFC's. Some EFC that might be of interest, cursor pad- RIGHT-191, LEFT-195, UP-189, DOWN-193. Some inputs CDR/TAPE-061, DVD/LD-192. most of the inputs are already mapped. What pioneer commands are you looking for?

I'm not sure yet what ...

OK, I did not see Jon's last two messages before I tried what I said I would before. I deleted the upgrade code from the receiver and it did start to work. I didn't have time to check much, basically just power volume, component changing. They all worked. I was really happy to see that. For the DVD ...

Quick update: I moved Jon's file to my remote and quickly tested it.

Pioneer receiver - still does not work at all
X1 projector - now works!
Panasonic DVD - only a few functions seem to work
Hughes DTivo - seems to work perfectly
Zenith HD - works perfectly, thanks for the extra buttons Jon!

I ...

Strategy for remembering what button does what

Is there any methodology or system any of you use to figure out what functions to assign to what buttons, and then to help you remember it for all your devices? How about labeling the buttons in any way. Anyone found a marker or paint that works well to label important buttons? I guess there could ...
