If I had to guess, I would think the codes would be device 26.98, commands 111 and 112 (the command codes for similar VCR functions), but really the codes could be anywhere in 26.98. Most new codes are 26.98 codes. I doubt they're in 26.73 but it's possible.

Here's the next version:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/MakeLearned_b2.zip
It includes the fixes and suggestions John Fine mentioned, except for the IRPanels stuff. I did this quickly, as I won't be able to work on it over the next week, so there's a good chance of bugs.

Regarding the suggestions:
1) Default values: In NEC1 I want to be able to leave subdevice blank. There should be some syntax in the IRP file that says the default value of S = 255- D used only when the user doesn't specify S.
I can add a default= line or something like that in the protocol file ...

New MakeHex-like program using current IRP format
Well, I finally got this thing done enough to actually release it as a beta. It's called MakeLearned, and it's a Java program that generates learned codes, right now only in Pronto format (so it's essentially MakeHex). The big difference is that it uses the current IRP format that John Fine is using ...

One of the more common backend systems is called LodgeNet. These usually have very crappy "stick" remotes with tiny square buttons. I learned all the buttons for it one time when I brought one of my JP1 remotes to a hotel that used that system, since it uses a unique NEC1 device and subdevice code ...

Most of the codes that are not unique to this device are on my website on the DVD page here: http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_dvd.htm . This should save you some time learning the codes. All the codes you don't find on my site you'll have to learn into your URC-7800, and when you create your ...
