That would be handy. Also, I'm in the UK and the model numbers seem to be different over here, so UK numbers would be a bonus. I can probably search about and find info on the difference in naming myself though.
Cheers!

Thanks guys!
I think avoiding reinventing the wheel, as you point out, is the way to go. No point in spending the time coding, when I could be working on the usability of the overall device.
I think I'll try and pick up a low cost UEI, and look into reclaiming the bits I need. This along with JP1 to get the ...

Building a remote from scratch.
Hi,
I want to design and build a very, very simple remote control for my camera.

I know I can use my universal remote for this, and the codes are available, but I'd like to make something more compact and convenient. I also want to add a shutter release ...

When I made my jp1 ultra for my 8060, I pushed some pcb header pins through a piece of strip board, such that the little ring that stops the pins going through the board were pushed up against the non-copper side, with the short end of the pins on that side (I actually also cut about half the length ...

Thanks for the interesting info john. Sounds like things may be more difficult than I hoped. I've been doing some reading over at www.lirc.org and there is some useful discussion here:

Yes I'm a developer. Java is my day to day language at work, along with XML oriented technologies and database bits and bobs. I'm also pretty familiar with some other languages including c++, perl and various others.
I'd like to get involved, and I'm sure I can spare some time to devote to it. Just ...

Hello,
Could anyone tell me if PC IrDA interfaces that are commonly available are able to pick up signals from common remote controls. The reason I ask is that I would be interested in writing software to capture the signals, allowing people to do so without having to build an interface themselves ...
