No, very helpful indeed like all the advice and help I've received on this forum. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting another lemon like the urc 7990. :D

Thanks.

Yes, I've read about the Bluetooth support - excellent feature. I'm pretty much sold on getting a 7955 or 7980 at the moment, I found a 7955 for £15 but missed out, Currys are doing them for £23 however.

@mathdon, you recommended the 6440 which I've been happy with, are these new ones any good?

I see, although I would have no problem soldering the extra pin I'll go with the recommended lead if other people have had no luck with arduino. All the ones on uk ebay have four wires and that had five (six if you add the RTS) so thought it might be ok.

I'll post another thread in the noob section ...

Thanks for the replies, I'm thinking about going with the urc 7955 or 7140 or 7145, I think these all need a serial cable. Amazing that these are all half the price of a 6440 now it's discontinued.

One last noob question, is this cable ok?

URC 6440 replacement

Hi,

Does anybody know of a one for all with RMIR usb support that is currently available in the UK? I'm having a hard time finding a replacement urc 6440 (soft keys worn) for a sensible price. They all seem to be essence 4 now and I believe you need a usb to serial cable for those.

Any help ...

All sorted now, sending dummy keys did the trick.

Thanks all.

Yes, that's exactly what I wanted. I didn't RTFM for the extender as I don't really need it and didn't want to have to change the List or any other button in to a multi function shift button.

Thanks for your help.

Pause in Macro?

Hi, I've tried searching for a way to make the remote pause before sending the next key in a macro sequence but came up blank. E.g. key 1, Pause, key 2,key 3, key 4, key 5. Is there a way to do this?

P.S. I scrapped the 7990 and now have a 6440 after listening to mathdon. It's a much better remote ...

Hello Graham,

I got the codes for the pvr from this site.

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=7126

Thanks due to IDW.

It's not the same pvr as my brother has, he has tvonics HD500 or something like that, basically it's the same but with a LCD screen. I loaded that ...

Thanks for the tip mathdon, I'm persevering with this 7990 for now (hoping for firmware that will never come), but when I decide to chuck it 6440 is next.

I've come from a Logitech 555 which I used for years until it wore out and have realised these one for alls are much better because of RMIR.

I wish I could but it has no effect whatsoever on this remote (urc 7990). It's quirky to say the least.

I think I may have to copy my brother and get a xsight plus, it's 10 times the remote this is and only £25 from pixmania.

Hi, jsmithee. Thanks for letting me know of this issue. Please post a link to your dump, as I can't find it.

To me, however, the biggest new feature in Alpha 23 is that I have finally got rid of endless downloading :D when RMIR cannot interpret something in the remote. In such situations, RMIR will now display the following error message:

Thanks for the help.

It's a shame I can't change the activity buttons on this remote as they are redundant in my usage because of that silly zapper screen. I only use device mode.
