Topic: Nokia32 Protocol Causes Sony DVP-NS70H DVD Player to Hang

Some additional information. I was able to reproduce the problem with the remote that came with the AT&T set-top box. Given that the DVD player turned on and off fine and then would not turn on after I played with the remote, I'm pretty certain that the problem is IR-related. However, I still have ...

Nokia32 Protocol Causes Sony DVP-NS70H DVD Player to Hang

Two weeks ago, I had AT&T U-verse service installed. The service uses a Motorola VIP1200 set-top box. I learned the AT&T remote on my Radio Shack 15-2116 and quickly discovered that it uses the Nokia32 protocol. I was able to set up the remote in Keymap Master (Cable device type), and everything ...

off = OK + power toggle?
I thought about that, but I would prefer not to turn it on and turn it off to maintain an off state, since I do have a power off macro that turns off all devices (including those already off). Still, I'll use your solution if I can't come up with anything better. Thanks.

Motorola VIP1200 Discrete On/Off or Possible Emulation

Hi, all.

Is anyone aware of discrete on/off codes for the Motorola VIP1200 set top box used by AT&T U-verse? If none exist, can anyone suggest a way to force discrete behavior? I know that pressing "OK" will turn the unit on from standby, so that could serve as an acceptable discrete on. However, I ...

Hi, PB.

Perhaps I shouldn't be trying to answer your question, since I'm relatively new to this myself. It seems that you should be able to use the Dish Network Combo protocol to combine multiple devices, but I'm not having any luck with it. The protocol help says that you should be able to enter ...

You mean Spiro Agnew’s effete eastern snobs?

I'm pretty sure you're misquoting him (but then almost everyone who quotes Agnew misquotes him. That makes it much easier to make him sound stupid.)
Misquoted or not, Agnew's use of the English language far outstrips that of the original subject of ...

After 30 seconds of searching the Internet, I found Mr. Aldrich's remote at http://www.vcrremotecontrols.com/Mfrs/Funai/FunaiCombo/N0107UD.htm . It might be kind of fun to supply the information to him as one of the people "you work with," but I'm afraid I would have to trash my e-mail account after ...

Hey, Jack.

If you are still having problems, you may want to post the complete path name of the file you are trying to save. There were some changes made to IR 5.06 related to problems I was having with path names, and it is possible (Paul?) that something that worked previously does not now.

I ...

Some of the Windows OS's still need the DOS 8.3 file descriptions when executing from a command line. SUch is the case with ExtInstall.

The reason we did not spot this is because XP does not care. Nils and I were both testing in XP. It wasn't until I tried it in W2K that I discovered the problem ...

Hey, Paul.

IR 5.06 works like a champ in my original configuration (C:\Program Files\IR, etc.). :D Thanks! What changed?

Small observation: The most recent entry in the 5.06 release notes lists the version as 5.05 again instead of 5.06.

Chasman, are you sure the admin account has write privledges to all the folders you're trying to access? I had a problem at work where my PC was setup with admin rights, but only My Documents and Settings had write access, while all my JP1 stuff was under Program Files. I had a heck of a time ...

It became obvious pretty quickly that modifying the extender to do what I wanted was beyond my level of expertise. I was able to get things working using the Device Combiner. Thanks to all for your help.

The recommendations I made in my last post were in the context of creating a temporary version of IR with debugging information that might better allow me to determine what the problem is on my system. Readdressing each of my points individually:

1) If the error resulting in the "Missing ExInstall ...
