Hi Vicky,
Thank you for the interesting suggestion. Yes, it does make sense.
In the meantime, what I have done is to place four DSMs on the M1 button of the 8820 (not used for anything else) one for each of the devices I want to use the AUD sound for: TV, CBL, VCR, and PVR. The DVD is accomplished ...

Controlling Audio Input for Different Devices

Hi, it has been almost 2 yrs since I have visited here and my urc 8820 with extender has been working fine as designed thru many iterations but now I want to do something new.

There are times when using a given device, lets say CBL, and I want to change from using the TV audio to using the AUD ...

Update on URC-8820 - new FAV Problem?

Much progress has been made on my use of the extender for the URC-8820B00 with some Toad Togs to track the power ON/OFF states for some devices. The TTs are required to allow or skip a Pause for TV power up, to allow selection of Vol and Mute to be either TV or AUD depending on whether or not the ...

This turned out to be simpler that I first thot.
First I made sure that the Format button was free on the devices (Dish, DVD, and PVR) that I wanted to use. A couple of tweaks in RM did that with no problem.
Then I just made the required Keymoves in IR, picking each device and the TV mode discrete ...

Changing TV Aspect Ratio in DVD Mode

I would like to be able to change the Samsung TV Aspect Ratio while in the Sony DVD Mode since some DVDs can have different aspects. I have the discrete Samsung codes to do it or could use Format button. Can I do this with a key move? The two devices have different protocols.

The IR file is ...

mdavej,
Thanks for the suggestions.

I also plan to make some adjustments in the macros.
For example, in the Phantom3 macro that is All Off, which as been sporadic, put the TV off command first.

Adjustments in viewing habits can work too. Such as turn the Dish box on first even if just planning to ...

Yippee! :D Problem solved. Works perfectly with the TV unplugged.

Now the question is "What to do about it"? Who wouldda thunk?

jimdunn,

At this point, the only reason I am using the TT for the Dish force on is because after many many tries to use only the discrete on in this scenario have failed and only the TT turns it on in the extender. Go figure!

Gotta run, be back later.

Yes, I know the Dish does not turn on because there is a power LED on the front panel and the TV is on the s-video input.

I have no way to tell what the remote is sending out.

As I say, it is befuddling. And YMMV.

greenrl,

One thing that struck me right off the bat is you are hardly using any punch through either with keymoves or with your setup macros.

One of the best features with these remotes is the ability to add punchthrough so that you don't have to be constantly changing back and forth between ...

What a great group you are! If I could take all of the hints, suggestions, and tips found on this JP1 site, I could fill a "JP1 for Dummies" book. Thanks again.

Interesting discussion all around. I like Capn Trips suggestion to use a two button activity start up as it will simplify things considerably.

I do have the discretes for all the devices except the Maggy 2160A.

Yep, the Samsung TV "lights up" fairly soon but refuses to accept commands until maybe ...

Thanks Jim, Good advice as always.
The toadtogs are required to track power states. For the TV to allow a pause if needed to delay commands while powering up. For the PVR because there are no discretes for on or off. For the CBL to allow a pause during start up ( but now no longer used ). The one ...
