I will just add this last note to conclude this thread. I completed my DIY JP1 cable on the weekend. When I first tested it, I had an error message reading something like No JP1 compatible remote found. Incidently, I was using the same (somewhat flakey) PC tower that I used for testing my serial IR ...

mdavej - You may find that you can play some divx movies by modifying the fourcc header in the avi file. You can find a simple utility software (freeware) that will allow you to view & modify this info.

I've only tried one so far - it had DIVX as the file description, DX50 as the codec used. I ...

Just as a follow-up, I copied a couple more avi movies to a USB drive - it played the first one, but not the second. So it seems to work, but I think it is selective about the codec info in the avi header. I ran into this in the past with another DVD player. But anyways, I'm well on my way now. Once ...

Well, my Comcast remotes finally arrived today. One is a URC-1067ABC1, and has the jp1 connector labelled JP1.2. The other is a URC-1067ABG1, and has the jp1 connector, but the label is to the side, and is partly hidden by the case.

I hope to have my serial interface ready for the weekend - most of ...

Thanks. Yes, I've already downloaded the schematic diagram for the flash interface. Hopefully I can get one rigged up before the weekend.

Just to clarify, the codes that were uncommented are just the set that I was working with, but most of them are NOT working for me. Power works, and open/close ...

OK, here's an update.

I purchased a pair of Comcast 1067ABC3 remotes on eBay yesterday, so they should arrive later this week. I scoured the shops in my town for the RCA remote (RCRP05B) but couldn't locate one, so this seemed to be my best option.

I'm hoping they'll have the JP1 connector, or at ...

Insignia NS-BRDVD .....

Thanks for your help. This is a great forum - everyone is so helpful.

Well that file was my first attempt, and it didn't work, but I wasn't really expecting it to.

With all the info I've gotten back, I'm getting a much clearer picture.

But yes, I was using the Robman's file. I had to edit it a ...

NS-BRDVD3 - only a few keys work ....

Thanks for the feedback, Vicky. (Great tutorial, BTW!) So the device code & subdevice code are there in the pre_data, I just didn't recognize it. One mystery solved.

As it turns out, not all of the functions are working - in particular the navigation keys and the enter key are not working. I went ...

Insignia NS-BRDVD3 working!!!

I've been doing a lot of digging & reading since my first post in this thread, and along the way I stumbled across Vicky G's very excellent tutorial on infrared protocols, which is available here on this site. I would recommend this as a MUST READ for any newbies who are trying to do creative things ...

Thanks so much. I'll give you a more detailed report in the morning - I have to play now, and I'll probably be up quite late. Thanks again.

Insignia NS-BRDVD3-CA Blu-Ray

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here, with a question that is jp1 related, but it's not about programming a jp1 remote.

I recently picked up a Blu-Ray player on eBay - it was a good deal, but came without a remote. I can play a movie without a

remote, but there is a firmware upgrade available that requires ...

OK - Thanks for the prompt reply. The next remote I buy will be a jp1 remote. I saw that the RCU810 is jp1, and hoped that this one would be too. Again - thanks. This is an awesome forum.

RCA remote RCU800B

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here, and my first question is (I hope) an easy one for the knowledgeable folks here.

Does anyone know if the RCA RCU800B remote is a jp1 or jp1.x remote? It's an 8 device remote.

My reason for asking is because I can get it very cheaply ($5.99) while it's on sale at a nearby ...
