Bump for this great remote that endures as the ultimate cheap JP1

Staples now carries it for $12

http://www.staples.com/Voxx-RCA-RCRP05B-5-Device-Universal-Remote/product_IM1GB1080

There is also a seller on ebay selling them for $10 shipped - open box but apparently they have a bunch of them from ...

Does the Vizio VUR8 support 9XX codes?

Really don't like its style or layout, the double circle approach on the RCA is easier to remember/use without looking at the remote.

I've got a Cox branded Atlas somewhere but I need a real JP1 cable to code it - don't remember it being backlit.

Yup, they've done it a few times over the past month or two

http://camelcamelcamel.com/RCA-RCRP05BR-Device-Replacement-Universal/product/B0028IKXLS

Seems like it is now the go-to for cheap JP1 over the past few years.

It is still in most Walmarts for like $14

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to ...

Now to try to figure out if I can code the previous/next buttons.

The original vizio remote does not have those keys but there are other keys the television supports which are not on the basic remote (like alphanumeric)

I guess I will look at other video remotes for hints, like their premium M ...

Okay after much more reading and remembering, apparently what I am asking for is the 9XX code.

But I am not sure how to use that 42 / 79 code ?

So I press TV
Press and hold SETUP until it flashes twice
Press 994
Press SETUP
(now what do I do here with 42 / 79 since it wants a 3 or 5 digit code ...

Are there JP1 programmable keyboards?

I realize this subforum was primarily meant for people trying to reverse IR keyboard codes into remotes.

But how about the other way around, are there remotes with full keyboards on them they are programmable via JP1 ?

I am looking for a better alternative to the XRT301/ XRT302 / XRT303 remote ...

for trade? new RCA 5-device RCRP05B remote for JP1.3 cable?

I picked up a couple of these so I am willing to let one go in trade for a JP1.3 usb cable?

This model is very well documented and supported around here.
New, sealed in the original hanging package, ie.

Ah thanks for figuring out the right sequence!

However after thinking about it for awhile, I've decided not to do channel lock because it also affects the OK button which is not good for the other devices where I need to use it sometimes.

You know what - 973 isn't working for me.

I can do the "deactivate" sequence (ch-) and get 4 blinks.

But the activation sequence (ch+) does the solid error light.

This might be because I have a custom EFC set for "enter" (OK) on the DVR button?

Tried it several times without luck. Deactivate ...

For those too lazy to go to the store, ecost/eforcecity has them for $10 shipped:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0533265447

(I think ecost is run by TigerDirect)

They are selling darn fast too - that number sold on the right keeps going up with each refresh!

Oh duh! I cannot believe I missed that "channel lock".

They call the same concept different terms I guess.

Thank you so much for pointing it out.

The problem with macros and other advanced stuff is I will forget what does what. I don't have such fancy needs anyway, I'm still using a CRT type TV !

Thanks for posting the device reassignment instructions. I've posted that info in the thread in the insignia forum.

Which thread is that? Because I probably should be following it.
