Hi Vicky

Re: your button failure issue, I'm still rocking the 10820N's using your extender (thanks!!) and when my 4th and final new one started to fail, I took apart the 3 earlier ones and followed this fellow's procedure:

I'm still nursing along a fleet of extended 10820N's and have gotten the 'select a remote' prompt for a long time, without knowing why. I can confirm that removing the space in the filename as described does eliminate the prompt.

I have a long-obsolete URC10820N with an "extender" installed, but the exact model is unimportant, as long as you have a JP1.x cable.

Cable advice here:

I just set up a Shield Pro with a Flirc. Wasn't particularly difficult to figure out, but if it helps, here are the files I used in my setup.

Hi Vicky

Glad the OP got his problem fixed.

Off-topic for this thread, but wanted to jump in and say Thanks! to you.

Your A7 extender DID get used by someone! I had no need for the multiplex function but it worked just fine on my 10820 for at least a couple of years. When the numbers on the ...

If you're buying a cheap FTDI cable from Ebay or wherever, be aware that _if_ it contains a counterfeit FTDI chip, the latest drivers (including from Windows Update) will cause you problems.

Version 2.12.00 (26 August 2014) will semi-permanently brick counterfeit chips, and 2.12.00 (29 September ...

Newest FTDI drivers 'bricking' non-genuine chips

The latest FTDI usb-serial drivers are reportedly 'bricking' counterfeit/clone FTDI chips. Apparently, there is a fix, but for those of us using our $8 Ebay cables, it might be prudent not to update to the new drivers, at least for now.

Hi, dailyglen.

I'm outside the US as well, and didn't want to pay the high freight charges either, so I bought this cable:

which I'm sure is identical to your cable:

Hi Vicky

If you can see the BSOD on screen, the video card is quite possibly not heat-damaged. Take a look at the electrolytic capacitors on the card and see if any look like they are bulging similar to the ones in this picture:

50ms - 12.5sec definitely seems like it would be the most useful range... if anyone "really" needs 25sec they can simply call up a 2nd pause.
