Opening the ir file in ir.exe I am able to add a macro bound to shift-dvr. Like you suggested, it changes the value from $42 to $C2. Not sure why I can't do this in rmir.exe. No big deal though.

Every time I put the batteries in the remote the cbl button starts flashing. Two quick blinks over and over. I can get it to communicate with ir. I have tried uploading a file from a working remote to the bricked remote with no luck. Can't get a 981 reset to work. Any ideas?[/b]

I was trying to store some learned commands on my rcrp05br on shift keys. I wanted to put commands to store my air conditioner on my shifted number pad keys. I used ir and it worked fine putting the learned keys on all shifted keys but the number pad. I am guessing it has to do with the numbers ...

Well, it has been over a week and I haven't had my original problem happen again. It was weird that it happened twice in one day and then not again, but oh well, definitely not complaining.

Could you try and keep track of which buttons go bad, and when one of them does go bad, could you check if it's bad in all device modes.

Seem to be always certain ones. None of the power buttons, or volume work. All the controls on my Directv HR24 still work fine. But, yes, it always is the same ones, but not all of them.
