JP1 Remotes

My mother needs a replacement remote for a DVB-C box. In fact it runs NEC1 Device 0 (00 FF FF) . She could do with a simple learn mode remote but my plan was to add the TV, DVD etc. to the remote on a later point.

I have imported a URC-10820 from the US and it works wonderfully.

I am looking for a JP1 remote for my mother. We can get URC-7557 here in Denmark but I am wondering if I should consider some of the alternatives.

I got a URC-10820 cheaply from something named Z9 Electronics. It only costs USD 13.49. They also have the URC-8820 for USD 12.19.

I had never tried the protocol builder, but now I have. I had some problems finding protocol-builder-v400.xls - at least I couldn't find it in the File Section .

I changed the protocol code to:
Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 23 (HCS08) Streamzap New (PB v4.00)
20 16 16 30 11 85 85 10 08 06 01 A6 01 A6 ...

I have a URC-10820 and a satellite receiver that responds to the Streamzap protocol. I have created a KM that I thought was working but I soon discovered that it's not really as good as I expected.

Mine presents itself as "One For All Video Pro" when powered on. I'm not quite sure if it's called URC-6800 (like the name of the first photo indicates) since that's the number for the Cinema 6.

Thanks for your comment about the article. I never made one of the cables for the 3 holes. As far as I remember the only thing possible at that time was to activate the remote control from the PC via the cable.

I have uploaded a zip file with two upgrades: One made by KM v9.12 and one by KM v9.14. It seems there is an extra semicolon on the lines produced by v9.14, if that matters.

I use an Excel from Office 2000 and my Windows XP has language set to "Danish" in Regional Options. I tried ...

There seems to be a problem with KM v9.14. When I generate an upgrade for URC-8820 and save it, the program says "This file does not appear to be a valid keymap-master Device Upgrade." when I load the upgrade again. It works in KM v9.12.
