thanks for the replies. Sounds like I need to do some research using the ToadTog tool you mentioned. My goal is to have a single power button assigned to the VCR device class on my replay remote that will toggle the power on my Yamaha tuner. Assigning the discrete on or off button to another button ...

I tested the 250 code without success. I am able to assign power on (EFC 248) & power off (EFC 246) to my replay remote power button in VCR mode. The problem is I would need to assign another button with the other function. Forgive me, I am somewhat of a noob to this although I have leveraged JP1 ...

The notes in the KM file I am using state:
"Similar to Yamaha HTR-5550/54x0 but specific to 5650/5640
Tested with 5650
All possible EFC's were tried to find any code that did anything.
These models do not respond to power toggle 250
Oer differences between this and 5550 are surround modes"

I guess ...

OK, so I created another function called "Power Toggle" with an EFC code of 250. Not sure if I need to enter OBC and Hex codes as well before copying to IR.
Am I on the right track ?

I loaded the Gateway file into KM and copied the upgrade code to IR and tested that it toggles power on the TV using the showstopper remote.
I'd be happy to relabel the functions as necessary; could you give me a little direction on excatly what needs to be done?

I deleted the protocols you suggested (Replay controls still work as you said they would :)
I added the protocol and 2 device codes suggested and I can now control TV power & volume. Thansk for that. I must have done something wrong because now I cannot power up the cable box (Pioneer Voyager). Od ...

I'll check the protocols/codes when I return home tonight; you are the expert so I am sure that's the problem. If I were to do the 981; would I be able to put just the replay codes for the Replay 5040 back in without much trouble?
