Thanks, I remember reading that before, but it was a while ago. Sorry to ask a question that has obviously been answered before.

Okay, now I'm really confused. I just remembered reading somewhere that the SETUP button also acts as a shift in some cases. I tried it and to execute shifted commands, I need to use the SETUP button before the keypress.

The remote also has a SHIFT button that puts an 'S' in a box on the LCD, but ...

Problem with Shift-Power on URC8800

Is there a known issues that I'm not aware of with putting commands on the shift-power button on the URC-8800?

The code works fine on other buttons and IR.exe allows me to make a keymove to the shift-power button, but the remote refuses to send any code when shift then power is pressed.

Is there a ...

Thanks.

I'm in the process of working out an Upgrade using the Denon Combo protocol that will bust the 50 byte limit. I'm going to try the beta Extender that supposedly gets rid of that limit. We'll see what happens.

Things work at the moment and I haven't run out of room...but I will if I start ...

So what Jon wrote earlier:
Mark you leave the the tuner device Move button key move and then a Macro bound to the Move key for Tuner|Move and delete the others.
won't work as typed. I need to do what you suggest:
put the code on a button within a device that you don't use like on the shifted-1 ...

Okay, now I'm confused.

If I make the macros you suggest and a macro on a key executes the macro in every device, how can I make a macro on the TV/SAT button that calls the TV|TV/SAT button? Wouldn't that loop if it was presses while in the TV device?

Can you really make a macro bound to the same ...

After this, I may have to try to understand the ToadTOG thing so I can make the remote wife proof and include the cable box power which is a TOAD.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like it is time for me to venture into the realm of the Extender. :-)

Thanks for the hints. I'll see what I can do. Other than what Nils mentions at the end, are there other benefits to running the extender?

BTW, the reason for the shift-volume on the TV is so that I can control the TV volume (rarely need to if ever) instead of the Tuner volume which is assigned to ...

Need help optimizing memory use on my 8800

I'm using the basic RDF for the URC-8800 and have things worked out fairly well, but I'm rapidly running out of move/macro memory. On the other hand, my upgrade memory area is virtually empty (and seems to be larger than the move/macro area).

Is there a way to rearrange things so that I can use the ...

Well, to update you. I pretty much have it working as far as I can tell. I do need to do a little more testing, but my wife is watching the TV and testing now could lead to my death. :-)

*laugh* Sorry, I'm still a little sleepy and I'm used to "patients" at work and most of them have very little "patience" while waiting to see me.

Thanks Jon. I'll work on the 2 upgrades today.

While I'm asking, can you point me to a document that explains Phantom Keys and also how to program shifted keys that are not listed in KM. Do you just do a keymove in IR and check the shifted box? You don't have to do anything special in KM, right ...

I'm game to test things if I can be reasonably sure I can "put things back to normal" if it doesn't work. If I kill off the remote, my wife will kill me off. I would love to replace it with an MX-700, but she isn't too keen on spending that kind of money right now. :-)

I'm not sure I understand the ...

Thanks for your help. Sorry about the netiquete blunder. Didn't even think of it.

What is the difference between the "official" and the "hacked" versions of the Denon Combo protocols?

When I get the upgrade working, I presume I should post it to the Yahoo group for others to use, correct?
