Save issues

I think there are (still?) some problems with saving.

I opened a .txt file, modified it, and chose Save As... I picked a new file name (foo.IR) and clicked Save. IR warned me that I might be overwriting a file if I do this, and asked if I wanted to save the changes. If I click yes, nothing is ...

721 with kameleon

I just got a 721. I did my HW before it got here, reading through this extensive thread. Thought I had everything under control...

I'm using a 9960 with Nils' extender2. I've tried, I think, all of the device upgrades on the Yahoo files set, starting with the Robman's (both versions). Nothing ...

IR feature request: integrate ExtInstall

I hunted through the threads concerning new IR development. I like the improvements in IR v5.01, though I've had trouble figuring out saving. Over all, the new features seem like real wins.

A nice solution to the incompatibility problems, and an improvement (I think) in the overall UI of the JP1 ...

I didn't realize that that was where the map file was named. Yes, that works too (and is of course a better solution)

Well, RM gets the name of the .map from the .rdf file, and the name of the .jpg file from the .map file.

The 9960 RDF files specify urc-9960.map, which in turn specifies URC-9960.JPG (note the case of the extension) Try editing the .map file and changing the extension to lower case.

Nils, are ...

Hmmm. Followup: I copied the URC-9960.(map|jpg) files to urc-*, and re-ran RM. Now it runs, but I don't get to see a picture of my remote.

Remote Master on Linux

I occasionally try using RM, though I haven't ever been serious about it. I'm using a linux machine as my JP1 host, so eventually I'd like to move to rm (ir works fine via wine, but of course km is out).

Anyway, I've had a problem the last couple of times I've used RM, which I think is related ...

How to create a master DC, then? Are there instructions somewhere?
I just asked a related question over in the general forum, and got an excellent, detailed reply from johnsfine. Search for the thread "Loading multiple copies of a protocol?"

Re: Version 2

Nils, what are the differences between beta 2 and the release of extender 2?

Ken The relased version has a significant rewrite in the screen management area, improved button group management, and improved some other processes. It is worth migrating to.
Oh, I will --- I just wanted to know what I ...

Thanks for the explanation, John. I'll experiment! That would leave me with maybe enough memory for one more upgrade, which is never bad.

Loading multiple copies of a protocol?

I've got two devices that seem to benefit from increased signal duration, my dish pvr and my TV. I created upgrades for both of them via keymap master using the device combiner protocol. I don't want to do any combining, I just want to use the duration feature.

Now, when I do this, for each device ...

Ken, the PVR VOD button on the HT screen will not work unless the O_ keyset a device that it works in is in the HT macro such as O_CBL. The same is true of the record button and the T_ keyset, it must be one that includes the record button.
Still not working for me. PVR_VOD is a keymove in the CBL ...

Using IR under Linux

I just noticed in Mark's sticky post that IR is described as working under various flavors of windows. Thought I'd mention that I've been using it for quite some time under linux as well, via wine (the windows emulation software).

I'm not sure if wine can run Excel well enough to handle KM (I've ...

You do actually get home theater functionality with the remote but on the button selected by the O_ device in the device selection macro. All that is missing is lighting up the HT button.
Well, there's also the screen that goes with that button, which you can't reproduce with any of the other ...
