New 01 release of 2981 is completely different. Apart from device numbers (and internals) the big difference is less phantom keys (only two).

I recently buyed 2 URC 11-2981 R01

Some upload and download using adapted URC 11-2981 R00 rdf show sort of success changing BaseAddr to $EC00.

anyway keymap sems partially messed. Number keys are shifted and some functions maps not correctly. Main nav keys works correctly ...

Try a ultracheap usb-serial converter. I used a CP202x based with URC 2981 and worked immediately. Anyway try to invert RX and TX, no one knows which is which...
