JP1 Remotes

it is still not working. Does anyone think the problem might be with the wire? Ive tried uninstalling my serial port and reinstalling it. Ive tried using a usb->serial adapter, and nothing is working. All I ever get is "Failed to open JP1.2 Interface"

I am about to give up, i have no clue wat is ...

ok well i checked device manager and i have no modem listed. I dont have a 56k modem or anyhting like that in my computer, i only have an onboard network card. is there any other way i can see if another thing is using the port?

i was having the problem where IR7beta3 kept saying "failed to open JP1.2 interface" when i was using my jp1.2 serial cable, so i went to radioshack and bought a usb->serial adapter, and after installing drivers i still get the failed to open jp1.2 interface eventhough the tester detects my jp1.2 ...

when i run the tester with remote connected:

i have the cable hooked up to the remote as you described and my network card is built onto my motherboard, its not a seperate pci-card device.

I dont know wat the problem could be :(

ive been trying all day to get this to work, ive read other threads about similar problems but no one has this ...

thanks for the tip, but my computer has only 1 serial port and that is the port being used by the JP1.2 cable

i just tried to get IR7.00 beta 3 to work on 2 computers and it still says "failed to open JP1.2 interface"....and on both comps the test program says "found a JP1.2 remote".....i will officially start pulling my hair out.

i have everything set up perfectly, but no matter wat i do IR says "failed to open JP1.2 interface". Even though the tester program says that it found a JP1.2 Remote.

Is this a glitch with the programming in IR?

ok so i downloaded and installed IR620. I plugged in my remote and then i clicked download from remote and it says "no power either there are no batteries or its not connected right"
